SPECTRESS Workshop in Dubrovnik, 10-16 May 2015

The SPECTRESS project was extremely fortunate to be able to hold its 2015 workshop and network meeting at the Inter University Centre in Dubrovnik (of which SPECTRESS partner in Croatia FPZG is a member).

The title of the workshop was “Modalities of Trauma in (Multi)Cultural Contexts,” and brought together 22 Experienced and Early Stage researchers from across the SPECTRESS partner institutions.

The programme was evenly balanced between presentations by SPECTRESS researchers and other experiences of the cultural inscription of trauma, through film in particular (where the cases of Estonia and Greece were featured, as well as an investigation of perpetrator trauma in contemporary Israel). The group also visited the Bosnian city of Mostar to get a visceral sense of a city still marked by the traumas of the recent past.

Fuelled by the glorious sunshine and the intellectual passion of the participants, the workshop set a high bar for future activities of the network! The programme and other materials from the workshop can be found on the IUC website: here.
